ABOUT ASHLEY MORKEN

Hello!  I’m Ashley Morken,

and I created Healing Hearts Haven out of a deep desire to offer something other than traditional therapy—something intuitive, creative, and empowering.

I have never been content with simply asking, "What's wrong?" I have always been more interested in asking, "What happened?" and, more importantly, "What is still possible despite those events?"

At my core, I am a systems thinker, an artist, an educator, and a visionary who believes that lasting change happens when we understand the connections between our experiences, our relationships, our beliefs, and the environments that shape us. Rather than viewing people through the lens of diagnosis, labels, or isolated behaviors, I see every individual as part of a larger story—one that can be understood, rewritten, and transformed.

My journey has never followed a traditional path. My own journey of healing from childhood trauma, poverty, narcissistic partnerships, enmeshed family dynamics, codependency, chronic anxiety, miscarriage, and loss of financial security, led me into criminal and family law, where I spent years working with youth and families in the juvenile justice system. What I witnessed confirmed something I had long suspected: even the best systems—legal or therapeutic—often focus on individuals without adequately addressing the emotional and environmental patterns they return to.

Later in my life, as an attorney practicing criminal defense and family law, I spent years advocating for children and families navigating some of life's most difficult circumstances. I witnessed firsthand how trauma, broken systems, and generational patterns often left young people with consequences but few opportunities for genuine growth. Those experiences challenged me to look beyond legal outcomes and ask deeper questions about healing, accountability, and human potential.

That search led me to pursue advanced education in environmental law and policy, marriage and family therapy, trauma-informed care, expressive arts, and human development—not to collect credentials, but to understand how people, families, communities, and systems influence one another.  While marriage and family therapy plays a critical role, I saw an opportunity to offer something more . . . something different. Not instead of, but alongside. In December 2024, I earned my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy to provide an educational foundation for my coaching and speaking.

It was through years of professional and personal healing work that it became clear to me that coaching—especially when infused with intuitive insight and creative expression—could provide a more active and accessible bridge between awareness and transformation.  That’s why in April 2025, I transitioned from a clinical Licensee into fully offering integrated coaching, self-led intensives, immersive retreats and workshops, and systemic self-discovery.  As a holistic Life Coach with a foundation in clinical training, I bring a unique blend of professional experience, personal insight, and intuitive guidance to the work I do. I choose to work as a Creative Life Coach because it allows me the freedom to combine lived experience, education, and integrated healing practices in a way that transcends the limits of traditional therapy models. My approach is rooted in the belief that healing is not one-size-fits-all—every individual, couple, or family has a unique path forward, and my role is to help you trust your own.

Healing Hearts Haven isn’t here to compete with therapy. We honor and respect clinical models because those services are important to those who need diagnosis, medication, and mental health intervention. What we offer is the next step in the journey: action-based, heart-centered, and integrative, driven experiences that help individuals, families, and even organizations unlock what lies beyond analysis—real, empowered change.

I believe healing happens in motion. Whether through one-on-one integrative clarity coaching, immersive workshops, creative courses, or empowerment-infused educational retreats, our work focuses on helping people shift from cycles of rumination to patterns of action. Whether through hands-on exercises, or through tools like painting, writing, intuitive guidance, and storytelling, we support people in reclaiming their narratives and cultivating self-trust.

My goal?  To empower the healer within.

Along the way to understanding how to empower others, I realized art remained a constant companion for me, reminding me that creativity often reaches places that conversation alone cannot. So, today, I have added to my 1:1 coaching and everyday I work toward bringing together these seemingly different worlds into one integrated philosophy. I believe healing is not achieved through a single conversation, a single intervention, or a single profession. It happens when people are given safe spaces to create, reflect, build relationships, develop practical life skills, discover purpose, and reconnect with the parts of themselves that have been overshadowed by adversity.

My life's work is grounded in the belief that creativity is not simply an artistic pursuit—it is a human capacity for solving problems, expressing emotion, building resilience, and imagining new possibilities. Whether I am facilitating a workshop, speaking to educators, coaching a family, mentoring a teenager, painting a landscape, or writing a children's book, I approach each opportunity with the same intention: helping people move beyond survival and toward meaningful, purpose-filled lives.

I ultimately founded Healing Hearts Haven to bring this philosophy to life. My larger vision extends far beyond traditional coaching or education. I am building an ecosystem where youth diversion programs, family education, expressive arts, leadership development, publishing, retreats, entrepreneurship, and community partnerships work together to create meaningful alternatives for individuals and families seeking a different path forward.

I believe that communities flourish when they invest in people before crisis becomes identity, that accountability is strongest when paired with opportunity, and that every young person deserves a place where they are seen not for the worst thing that has happened to them, but for the potential that still lies ahead.

Above all, I believe one truth has the power to change lives: You can't change what happened. But you can choose what happens next. That belief continues to shape every program, every resource, every partnership, and every dream for the future of Healing Hearts Haven. I encourage you to engage, experience, learn, inspire, and build with me as I create this empire for the youth of tomorrow.
