From childhood through adulthood, life is filled with moments of joy, disappointment, celebration, change, and new beginnings. Through every season, Lola finds herself returning to one special place, a quiet oak tree that never offers advice, never speaks a word, and yet somehow always knows exactly what she needs. As the years pass and the tree grows alongside her, Lola discovers that sometimes the greatest comfort comes not from having all the answers, but from simply being heard.
Filled with gentle illustrations, changing seasons, and timeless themes, Lola's Tree is a touching celebration of resilience, family, belonging, and the quiet relationships that help shape who we become.
Perfect for children and the grown-ups who read beside them, this beautifully written story reminds readers that love doesn't always speak loudly. Sometimes it simply stays—steady, patient, and always there when we need it most.

Because every child deserves a place, and someone, that helps them feel seen, safe, and loved.

CHILDREN'S PICTURE BOOKS
AUTHOR BIO

Ashley Morken is a mother, storyteller, entrepreneur, and life coach whose greatest inspiration comes from raising her neurodivergent children; kids who remind her every day what it means to love with your whole self, without boundaries of race, nationality, or difference. Their curiosity, compassion, and courage fuel Ashley's writing for middle grade readers, where she seeks to shine a light on the quiet strength of being different.
Rather than centering conflict, teasing, or bullying, Ashley's stories celebrate creativity, friendship, and the ways children can lift one another up. She writes books that honor the complexities of life and blended family dynamics, while showing how imagination and compassion can be used as strengths instead of weaknesses. Her hope is to offer wholesome adventures that encourage young readers to see differences not as divides but as bridges and opportunities to celebrate what makes each of us unique.
In addition to her middle grade work, Ashley is an author of several personal growth and integration books, and is currently co-authoring a young adult fantasy series with her mother. She continues her professional work as a systemic, trauma-informed coach, program developer, and expressive arts practitioner. Her background in law, marriage and family therapy, and creative coaching gives her stories a rare mix of structure, empathy, and heart.
Ashley lives with her wife and children, finding joy in painting, storytelling, and the everyday magic of connection. Through her writing, she hopes every reader, especially the quiet ones who feel different, finds a place where their creativity is seen as a gift and their voice matters.
