My approach doesn’t ask you to abandon yourself when discomfort shows up.

  • recognize protection patterns

  • stay present instead of escaping

  • understand what your system is guarding against

...BACK IN 2018

I looked like someone who had it together.  I was a criminal law attorney, a full-time mother of four, living in a rural community, doing what I was "supposed" to do.  On the outside I was capable, responsible, and high functioning.

ON THE INSIDE, I WAS FALLING APART.

I was anxious, overwhelmed, crying in private, and isolating more than I realized.  I wanted relief without having to explain myself.  I wanted others to sense my discomfort without me having to name it.

I HAD INSIGHT, I UNDERSTOOD MY PATTERNS, AND I KNEW WHERE MY ANXIETY CAME FROM.

But, under stress, my body reacted before my mind could help me.  I carried the same patterns into my relationships, my parenting, and my work.  I began to understand a hard truth:

WHEREVER I WENT, THERE I WAS.

Talk therapy helped me understand why I struggled; but it didn't teach me how to stay with myself when my nervous system went into survival mode.

INTEGRATION WAS THE MISSING PIECE.

I had to learn how to sit in discomfort instead of fleeing it; how to talk to myself differently; how to stay present through the sensations that once sent me running.

THAT'S WHEN CHANGE BEGAN; NOT IN THEORY, BUT IN REAL LIFE.
